The Adventure Begins

After being farewelled from Wellington by our loving families, we arrived in Auckland. After a brief directional crisis (and a small worry about how we would fare navigationally if we couldn't even manage Auckland airport) we made it to our plane with hours to spare. Five hours, to be exact. We were right to be worried, as we were held up at security when Bryony's cheese and carrot sticks (part of a responsible and healthy premade snack) were mistaken for some kind of bomb. Reassured we posed no threat to national security, AirNZ let us continue on our merry way.

Bryony, unsure as to which direction we are going after
we had both misread the unhelpful arrows

Arriving in Singapore, we had planned to swim at the Airport Hotel. We soon learned there were many "airport hotels" but only one "Airport Hotel". This was, unhelpfully, in the other terminal. Swimming plan foiled by unclear hotel nomenclature, we paid for the most expensive showers of our lives, and proceeded, refreshed, to wait for our next flight.

At this point, Zoologist Bryony would like to note that the lights at Singapore Airport (not airport) resemble some kind of larva.
A rare, giant Singaporean maggot?

After the LONGEST FLIGHT OF OUR LIVES THUS FAR (seriously, we watched two movies and a tv show, napped, had a snack, and still had like 10 hours left. Ok, maybe 9. But seriously.) we arrived at Heathrow, excitedly retrieved our packs, and were met by John and Rosemary.

Ally, a mature adult ready to take on Europe.

And thus, The Adventure Began.
Tune in next time, for when we talk about actually doing things.

(Beware, further posts may never eventuate. It took us almost a month to manage this one.)

Here is a teaser photo from when we visited a castle (a CASTLE!). To continue the suspense, we will not reveal which country the aforementioned castle is in. You will have to tune in again! Ha.
